Raku course - August 12,13 &14, 2005.

This is a fully inclusive residential, three-day workshop, in the beautiful Derbyshire Dales, led by John Wheeldon, one of the country's leading exponents of Raku and will concentrate on glazing and firing methods.

We will cover all the main aspects of Raku.

· glazing techniques,

· suitable bodies,

· classic raku glazes,

· terra sigillata and naked raku.

· kiln design and health & safety.

· copper matt ( most dramatic of all the techniques),

Included in the course will be all the glazes, slips, biscuit pots to experiment with (and take away afterwards), kilns, equipment and all the necessary tools.

The course is suitable for all levels, both the beginner and those wishing to extend their skills. Group sizes will be a maximum of 10.
